All in Told by The Red Dragon

I have never heard a laugh like Dragon Little’s.

Dragon Little’s laugh rolls and rolls. It is as if the entire world is funny. It is as if whatever made her laugh is the funniest thing in the world.

Every time she laughs, her father laughs, too. Her laughter is catchy.

Her laughter makes even me want to laugh, even though she is a human and I am a dragon.

“Last time I was here!” She pointed to a spot a few millimeters underneath.

“You’re growing up so much, you’re going to be taller than me one day.”

“I’m going to be as tall as the sky?”

“I… yeah…” he laughed. “You’re going to be as high as the sky!”

“I’m going to be as tall as you?”

“Look closely, little pirate,” the Super Ninja said.

Dragon Little stood next to the villain she had just released. The two were faced the closed door to Dragon Little’s cabin on Bonny’s Revenge.

Dragon Little nodded.

“Hiiiiiii-yaaaaa!” the Super Ninja yelled as he ran at the door quickly, jumped on it, ran up vertically a couple of steps, then jumped and flipped in the air, landing on his feet.

“The trick is the speed,” the Super Ninja said. “If you’re fast enough, you can do it.”

Dragon Father had disappeared, having woken up in his other world which I had never seen, but the Super Ninja was not yet handcuffed and the handcuffs were held by the sweet, four-year-old Dragon Little.

Neither the Super Ninja nor Dragon Little responded in any way to the fact that Dragon Father had disappeared.

“Come on, give me your hands,” Dragon Little said.

After a few hours, Dragon Father exploded in anger, threatened her that she would never have anything to wear, then apologized for having raised his voice.

Dragon Little did not waiver at any point. She curled into herself when he yelled, but she would not waiver.

Then Dragon Father spent an hour pacing back and forth on the deck of Bonny’s Revenge.

Dragon Father appeared on the deck of Bonny’s Revenge, the pirate ship he and Dragon Little live on.

He was in an extraordinarily happy mood. He ran to Dragon Little’s cabin, woke up his 4-year-old daughter, and woke up with “Rise and shine! Shine and rise! It’s time to have adventure in the sunrise!”

The Pirates of Captain Bud caught Dragon Father.

They did it with perfection. First, they separated him from Dragon Little.

Once she fell into the Sinking Sands, they attacked him and forced him to flee.

He fell into their traps time after time, each time losing a gun, a sword, and getting out only by the skin of his teeth.

Finally, they surrounded him, exhausted and weaponless.

Dragon Little was three and a half years old when, in the middle of an adventure, Dragon Father and her saw four unicorns.

“Aw, look at that, look at that!” Dragon Father stopped her and crouched down, motioning her to crouch down as well.

They were in the middle of a small field of high grass in a magical forest, chasing down an evil wizard, when Dragon Father noticed them.

“See? Over there? That’s a unicorn. They’re so rare!”

“Huh…” Dragon Father kept thinking. “Hmmm… Okay… I get that.” He took her hand. “You know, I don’t know what Red meant. She’s mysterious, right?” Dragon Little nodded.

I smiled. Mysterious? Me?! If my cheeks could burn, I’m sure they would have. How did I achieve such a status? I’m just a lost, unlucky child, then an adult.

I did not know what to do with myself from embarrassment.

The dolphins leapt into the air, as high as the deck itself, then back underwater, never losing speed.

Dragon Little and Dragon Father watched excitedly from the deck, waving hello to the dolphins and laughing from joy.

“Hello, little dolphin friends!” Joy shouted at them after Dragon Father told her what they were called. “Hello!”

The dolphins made a sound back, apparently saying ‘hello’ in their own language.

“They’re so cuuuuuuuuute! So cuuuuuuuute!” Dragon Little squeezed her father’s hand.

“There’s an emergency on Dragon Planet,” Dragon Father said out of nowhere. Dragon Little had just eaten her breakfast and brushed her teeth, when suddenly Dragon Father shouted out the mission of the day.

This was the way their adventures sometimes began: Dragon Father would declare something, and then the idea in his mind would take form all around him.

“All right, we hide here, and when he comes back, we jump out and yell ‘A-ha!’.”

“A-ha!” she echoed in her 2-year-old way.

“And then we draw our swords and fight him! Okay?”

She nodded.

“Let’s see if you can find a good place to hide.”

Dragon Little and Dragon Father were seated around a fire. Beside them, handcuffed, was The Vulture Man, a villain they had captured after a particularly hard adventure.

They had eaten marshmallows on sticks above a fire, something Dragon Little had insisted on ever since Dragon Father had mentioned it. This time, he had relented. The Vulture Man had waited patiently while they enjoyed themselves.

Dragon Little was only 4 years old, when Dragon Father and Dragon Little chased The Red Pirate to his home planet. While he had left his ship unattended and went to the pub, Dragon Father and Dragon Little climb aboard his pirate ship.

“Let’s try this!”

They were looking for a place to hide on the ship, so they could stow away until the Red Dragon could lead them to his secret base.
