Dragon Father was quite nervous that the hostages would be killed by the pirates, but after he had made the unicorns run away, Dragon Little decided to sit down in the middle of the forest and refused to go anywhere.
Dragon Father only became more and more nervous.
He threatened that he would leave without her. “Go,” she said, her arms crossed..
He threatened that he would pick her up and go. “Let’s see you try!” she, only 3 and a half years old, hissed at him.
He tried talking calmly. “I want the unicorns back!” she said.
He tried explaining himself. “I’m staying!” she insisted.
Finally, he raised his hands, and said. “One minute. You get one minute, then we’re going.”
“Three minutes!” she said.
He shook his head. “Three minutes. Okay.”
He waited patiently, then said, “Two minutes left.”
After a while, “One minute. Do you hear me, Joy?”
She nodded, never looking at him. All this time she was sitting on the forest ground, legs crossed, and arms crossed.
After another short while, “Okay, time’s out. Let’s go!”
She looked at him. “I still have two minutes left.”
“Joy, I said ‘two minutes’ two minutes ago! Two minutes have passed. Time passed.”
Dragon Little looked at him with anger in her eyes and roared as it she could control the forces of the universe: “Time does not pass!”
Dragon Father looked at her then fell to the ground laughing.
When he was done, he sat up. “You’re so awesome, Joy! ‘Time doesn’t pass’!” And he went up to her and kissed her on the forehead.
