Dragon Little was only 4 years old, when Dragon Father and Dragon Little chased The Red Pirate to his home planet. While he had left his ship unattended and went to the pub, Dragon Father and Dragon Little climbed aboard his pirate ship.
“Let’s try this!”
They were looking for a place to hide on the ship, so they could stow away until the Red Pirate could lead them to his secret base.
Dragon Father was pointing to the small life boat, covered by a plastic sheet.
“The boat?” Dragon Little made a face. “I want to hide inside the barrel!”
She pointed to empty barrels on the ship.
“There’s no room for both of us inside that.”
Dragon Little stood her ground and pointed with confidence, “I’ll hide here,” she pointed to the barrel. “You hide there!” she pointed to the lifeboat.
“I want to be with you!”
“I’ll be here,” she shook her head adamantly.
“It will be stuffy for you. Like, no room to move!”
“I’m never stuffy! I never move!”
“What if you get scared and you need me?”
“I’m never scared!”
Dragon Father sighed impatiently. “Joy, what if you have to pee.”
“I never have to pee!”
Dragon Father’s head dropped forward in apparent exhaustion. I have seen him have this sort of argument many times with Dragon Little before. When she starts to deny reality, that means she will not change her opinion.
Dragon Father raised his head with new strength. “You never have to pee?”
“Never!”
“What if you have to poop?”
“I never have to poop! I only do it when I want to!”
Dragon Father turned his back to her and laughed as silently as he could. He then turned back to make another argument.
And that was yet another argument in which Dragon Father did not win.
