Joy is tired, but she refuses to go to sleep. Suzy and I join her and Master Mind as she takes the ship to the ice mountains of Mars and climbs them, then skids down on the ice, then does it all again and again and again.

She does this for hours. Even when she clearly can’t really walk anymore, she climbs up very very slowly and does it again.

Dragon Little stood in the doorway, little sword in one hand and little laser gun in the other.

Inside stood a Martian Space Pirate, three times taller than her, a large sword in his scabbard and a big laser gun behind his back. Behind him stood three more Martian Space Pirates. All of them looked at the door as he opened.

Dragon Father collapsed on the deck, laughing.

The pirate ship hovered just above the reddish, cracked desert which was Mars’ surface.

Dragon Father exhaled slowly. “Jeez. It’s beautiful. You know, when I was a kid, I wondered if I would ever get to space, set foot on Mars, see alien planets, fight evil villains, and save the world. Now we do it every day.”

“A-ha,” Dragon Little was still clearly still resentful that they did not have any adventure that day. Her arms were crossed and her face sour.

“Isn’t it beautiful?”

“A-ha.”
