The Lost In Dreams Universe

S02E244 Back to Toronto Planet, Part 1, Navigation

We are back in Toronto. Not the Toronto in the waking world, of course, but the Toronto Justin dreamed up and that Joy had made permanent. It’s an exact replica, except that it is in Justin's dream, and, yes, it is located, oddly enough, on a planet called Planet Toronto.

Once all the Dreamers woke up, and Joy was still not tired, Suzy suggested we go there.

“I want to take you to the Royal Ontario Museum,” Suzy said. “A young girl needs museums.”

So we board Bonny’s Revenge, the three of us and Master Mind as chaperone.

Joy helms the ship, amazingly remembering exactly where Planet Toronto is located in the vastness of space.

Bonny’s Revenge hovers above the city.

“Where’s the museum?” Joy asks.

Suzy and I look over the railing. “This is… What are we above right now?”

“Last time we got there by subway. But I can’t spot the subways from the damn sky!”

“Center Islands are over there,” she points. “We should go north from there.”

“No, we should go west.”

“Walter, if you go west, you go along the beach. The museum is north.”

“That’s not west, Suzy, that’s east. You can tell by the sun!”

“You can’t tell by the sun, that’s not the real sun! That’s west!”

“But the water is always in the same place. You can tell by the ocean!”

This conversation continues. As it continues, I remember how often we used to have these arguments and how, because we live in the middle of the ocean, we haven’t had these arguments for almost three years now.

“Suzy! We’ve talked about this a thousand times! It’s called ‘East York’ because it’s in the east!”

And as we argue, I get angrier, because of all those times she wouldn’t listen to reason. And she gets angry at me because I never agree with her on this.

“Let’s just fly over there and see! I’m telling you it’s right there!”

“But it’s just a waste of time! It’s the wrong direction!”

And we argue and argue, until we finally agree. “Okay. Joy, take us right there, to that skyrise!”

I look aside, and see that Joy has fallen asleep on the deck near the wheel.

I look at Master Mind. “Master Mind, how long have we been arguing?”

“I have debated that as well, Father of Pirate. 66% of me believes you have argued for an eternity while 34% of me believes you have argued for two eternities.”

I sigh.

“Told off by a robot,” Suzy says. I nod. “Master Mind, can you take us down? Walt, want to just walk around?”

“Good idea.”
