S02E199 The Zulu Heritage, Part 4, Joy the Warrior

Amahle stands in the middle of our living room and manifests the assegai in her hands.

“Hold it very carefully, Joy. It can cause a lot of damage.”

Joy approaches the assegai very slowly. “Amahle, I’m about to touch it.”

Joy’s fingers touch it and the assegai doesn’t glow.

“Wow, Joy, that’s good control!” I say.

Amahle releases the assegai and Joy holds it.

“It’s taller than I am!” She looks at it in awe.

Then, suddenly, with a “ha!” she thrusts her knee forward, leaning on it, and the assegai is aimed forward in what is no doubt a fighting position.

“The television! The television! Careful about the television!” Suzy exclaims, as the assegai misses the TV by a centimeter.

“Ha!” she changes positions again and holds the assegai above her right shoulder, aimed forward .

Suzy gasps, as the assegai misses Suzy’s favorite lamp on the shelves when Joy changes positions.

“Ha!” the assegai is now held behind her, as she looks like she’s going to throw it. The back part of the assegai stops a couple of centimeters from Amahle’s face. She doesn’t even know it.

“That is an amazing spear,” Joy straightens. “Here you go. You can take it.”

“Wait,” Suzy says. “Can I--Can I hold it?”

“Sure, Susanne. Be careful.”

Joy gives Suzy the assegai. “I love it and I didn’t make it permanent!” she says with pride.

Suzy holds it awkwardly. “That is impressive workmanship, Amahle. How did you know to create all of it? Whoops!” her leg trips over the bottom part of the assegai and she stumbles forward. The spear’s point pierces the television .

“Oh nooo!” Suzy shouts. She pulls the spear out of the TV, and it falls out of her hand, crashing the living room table! “Noooo!”

“Grandmother on the loose! Grandmother on the loose!” Joy laughs.

Suzy bends down to take it, but it disappears before she touches it.

“Maybe the assegai is not for you, Susanne.”

I look at the mess. “This is the zombie attack all over again,” I tease Suzy as she looks at me, embarrassed.
