“Enough of this chit chat!” The Tooth Fairy says in her deafening voice. “Let us dress the children for BATTLE! Bring in THE PADDED SUITS!”
Joy and Charlie giggle.
Small fairies fly in from behind us bringing in clothes racks of… I really don’t know what those things are.
“DRESS THE CHILDREN!” The Tooth Fairy orders the smaller fairies. “Grownups and robot - find seats in THE ARENA!”
I look around and find myself in the middle of what seems to be an ancient Roman amphitheater, except that the floor is still checkered and everything seems new.
“You want us to… find a seat there?” Suzy asks.
“FIND A SEAT THERE!”
“And watch?”
“AND WATCH! As I fling the children INTO THE SKY!”
“I’m sorry?”
“YOU ARE NOT!” The Tooth Fairy says. “FIND A SEAT! I have NO TIME for YOU!”
Always hovering, she turns around in the air. Joy and Charlie are being dressed as padded soccer balls. I mean, they look like massive soccer balls that hide every piece of their bodies. They only have holes to see and breathe.
“This is not what we wore before!” Joy says, lost within the big foam globe.
“This is the BIG GAME! The LAST game! We are not playing on the ground TODAY! Your game is in THE SKY!”
“Eeep!” I hear Charlie squeak.
“The sky?” Joy is not intimated. “What do you mean? How do we get to the sky?”
“With THESE!” The Tooth Fairy gestures and suddenly we notice two huge colorful cannons in the center of the arena. “I will SHOOT YOU INTO THE SKY!”
“Eeep!” Charlie squeaks again even as Joy giggles.
“Are the children ready? Grownups and robot, find seats NOW!”
Suzy and I walk very quickly and sit next to Justin and Master Mind in the first row.
“PUT THE KIDS IN THE CANNONS! Let the game BEGIN!”
