#395: The Statues, Part 3: The Decoy
Dragon Little and Dragon Father ran to Bonny’s Revenge and up the ramp. Dragon Little continued to run towards the wheel, while Dragon Father raised the ramp.
All around, the soldiers that were part of the presentation of the giant statue of Dragon Father and Dragon Little were scattering. The king of Planet Galaxy was nowhere to be seen.
Laser shots came from the sky as the invaders’ ships entered the atmosphere.
By the time Dragon Little made Bonny’s Revenge rise and move, there were no soldiers to be seen.
“Joy, there they are!” Dragon Father pointed. “Set them up and I’ll fire the cannons!”
Dragon Little moved the ship slowly to hover above and to the side of the statue.
“Joy! Come on! While we have the advantage! Let’s go!”
But Dragon Little slowed Bonny’s Revenge and remained floating motionless in mid-air.
“Joy! If we can see them, they can see us! Let’s move while we have the advantage!”
But Dragon Little held the wheel firmly and did not move.
“We’re a sitting duck!” Dragon Father yelled. “Move the--”
An alien ship headed right towards them from the sky. Dragon Little’s grasp on the wheel tightened, but she did not move it.
The alien ship began to fire at Bonny’s Revenge and Dragon Little moved at the speed of a dragon. She had tilted the ship even as she began to move it. The alien’s shots missed Bonny’s Revenge, but hit the object behind it: The statue.
The statue exploded, and Bonny’s Revenge sailed into the sky, gaining speed.
“Now we can fight them!” she yelled at her father.
They fought the alien invasion and of course they won the day.
But the story of the invasion and the statue ist not yet over. I will tell you tomorrow how the day ended.
