#393: The Statues, Part 1: The Surprise
“Oh, my,” Dragon Father said as soon as Dragon Little finished brushing her teeth and eating her breakfast. “I’ve just been asked to go back to Planet Galaxy.”
Dragon Little’s brows furrowed. “Are they having more troubles with ninjas?”
“Not really,” he sounded as if he was concerned “They said there’s no trouble but they really wanted us to come.”
“Hmmm.”
“What are you thinking, Joy?” I recognized that tone. He sounded serious. But this was his parenting tone. He was giving her room as if she was his equal and he was doing it on purpose.
“Could be a trap!” she said with importance.
“Yes!” he pointed at her. “I think you’re right! We’ll prepare just in case!”
She nodded and ran to the weapons cabinet.
Within fifteen minutes they arrived at the king’s private bay on Planet Galaxy. They exchanged knowing looks as they walked down the ramp.
“Felicitations! Felicitations!” The king himself stood there to greet them. Behind him appeared hundreds of soldiers, dressed immaculately, saluting and standing in two long lines. “I am so glad you came! You are our saviors after all!”
“Is everything all right, king?” Dragon Father asked under his breath.
“Everything is perfection itself thanks to you two!” the king answered and showed them the way. “This way! This way!”
He led them between the two lines of soldiers up to a giant structure that was covered by a giant cloth.
“What’s that?” Dragon Little pointed at the structure. It stood right underneath the highest tower of the palace.
“That is why we asked you here!” the king exclaimed excitedly. “Ready?”
“For what?” Dragon Father asked.
“Now!” The king shouted happily.
Dragon Father’s and Dragon Little’s hands went immediately to the weapons on their belts. But there was no need for that.
At the king’s order, the cloth was pulled with ropes, revealing…
“Oh my god!” whispered Dragon Father.
Dragon Little’s jaw dropped and all she uttered was a long “Khhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
It was a giant statue of Dragon Little and Dragon Father in battle. Dragon Little’s long sword was drawn while Dragon Father had a long sword in each hand. The statue was a hundred meters tall and towered over almost the entire palace.
“Oh. My. God!” Dragon Father said again.
Tomorrow I will tell you what happened then.
