S02E145 The New Dream Protocol, Part 2: The Class
Joy, Charlie, Master Mind and I get out of the elevator onto the university grounds in this new dream. Justin is waiting for us.
“I don’t know what this university is,” he says .”But look over here. There are palm trees. Over here there are fountains.”
I look around. “I’ve never seen anything like it. Maybe it’s not a university?”
Justin points to the young twenty-year-olds walking around with backpacks. ”It’s a university. Also, I heard them speak. I think that’s Arabic.”
Charlie points to their shadows. “They’re all dreams,” he says.
Suddenly, all around the young men and women begin to pick up their pace and walk towards one place.
Joy claps her hands. “Yes! Let’s see where the Dreamer is!”
“I go first!” Justin says.
He follows the crowd of people and we follow him. Charlie stays close to Joy. I’m behind the kids, and Master Mind is behind me, looking for dangers in our surroundings.
We are led into a pretty big auditorium, where the students take their place.
We take our places, too. Master Mind tries to sit in two chairs at once, and breaks them both. He remains standing.
“This is a university, Joy,” Charlie says. “It’s like school but much bigger. And you get to learn stuff that only adults know.”
“Like what?”
Charlie shakes his head.
“Like physics, chemistry,” I volunteer. “Biology. Literature. I’ll tell you later.”
“Everyone’s shadow is that of a dreamer,” Master Mind observes.
“The Dreamer is probably the teacher,” Justin says. The students grow quiet. “Here we go!”
We all look down.
A man walks in. He seems around Justin’s age, black hair, seems Middle-Eastern, carrying a few books in his arms. Except that he is completely naked. Completely.
My eyes widen. Charlie gasps and puts a hand on his eyes.Justin bursts out laughing. All the students in the auditorium point to him and laugh.
Joy jumps and leaps forward from seat to seat, so that she’s standing on a seat in one of the lowest rows. The lecturer tries to begin talking but stammers. Joy turns her back to him and shouts at everyone, “Hey! Laughing at other people is bad! You’re being bullies! Stop it!”
The students ignore her and keep pointing at laughing .
Justin does a double-flip in the air and lands next to Joy. “Come on, Joy, we’re going!”
“They’re bullies!”
“They’re not bullies, they’re dreams. They’re doing exactly what the Dreamer wants them to do. Let’s not interrupt his dream. We have to go!”
We get out of the lecture hall.
“Whoa,” Charlie says. “I never had a dream like that!”
“Me neither,” Justin says. “I’m guessing this could happen anytime. We’re not coming back to this dream ever. Let’s go.”
We head to the elevator, when Master Mind chimes in, “I have never seen a naked man before.”
