One day, Dragon Father yelled at Dragon Little as loudly and as harshly as I had ever heard him.
She was being stubborn, as usual. And for some reason, Dragon Father lost his ability to stay calm.
Dragon Little stopped and looked at him. She was only three years old at the time.
Her chin wobbled, and it seemed as if she was about to cry .
But she didn’t.
She turned around, and walked towards her cabin.
“You’re a bad dad! Bad dad!” she screamed as she entered her cabin and slammed the door shut.
Dragon Father remained behind, and stared at the door.
Now it was his chin that wobbled and he was the one who seemed to almost cry.
He turned around and kicked the railing of the ship.
“Goddamn bully. I was a goddamn bully!”
He looked around in all directions and his hand was on his mouth. “I can’t do this alone.”
He exhaled loudly. “I can’t. I can’t. I can’t. She’s so much work.”
He exhaled again and there was so much air, it was as if his entire body had been filled with air.
He sat down on the sole step of Bonny’s Revenge’s deck near the helm..
“Okay. Five minutes. Five minutes.”
And he took five minutes to calm down.
