#110: You're Not Angry at Me

A few days ago I told you a story, and there was a little bit of it that I forgot to tell you.

Remember the time that Dragon Little steered Bonny’s Revenge? First, she fought Mary who did not want to let her do it. Then, after Mary’s death, she accidentally discovered there would be no one to stop her. Then she steered the ship and flew it upside down, then had to wait for Dragon Father to come and rescue her.

Dragon Father would have died a few times had he not been a dreamer. But then he was able to maneuver himself into the ocean safely, and rise up into the air behind the runaway ship on a jetpack that had just materialized on his back.

He flew towards the ship, threw an angry look at the whimpering two-and-a-half-year-old Dragon Little, who found safety in the upside-down mast, flying just above the seawater. Then he flew towards the wheel, and slowly turned the ship around.

He watched Dragon Little as he did so, making sure the turn was slow enough to allow her to slip on the sail closer and closer to the deck as the ship turned.

The ship was upright once again and Dragon Little stood on the deck behind her father.

Dragon Father re-entered Bonny’s Revenge into the ocean and slowed the ship to a halt on the soft waves.

He turned around to face his daughter, his face furious. “Joy, I’m very very angry at you!” he said, clearly controlling his tone and anger.

Dragon Little pointed her finger at him and her face contorted like his. “You’re not angry with me,” she shouted at him, “I’m angry with you!”

He stopped in place, surprised, and smiled. “I’m not angry at you?”

“No! I’m angry at you!”

Dragon Father started laughing. I’m sure he thought, just as I did at that moment, that his daughter was a very special little girl.
