#35: Do Villains Have Jokes?

Dragon Little, Dragon Father, and I descended upon the capital city of the Flying Flies. Dragon Father was in Bonny’s Revenge, and I, summoned as I am only when the situation ist too dire, rested beside it. I lowered my head and allowed Dragon Little to jump down.

It was a city of pirates, a city with buildings built on flying ships. There were pirate skull and bones flags everywhere.

The palace was built atop a huge flying cloud.

As Dragon Father told it, Bonny’s Revenge, the flying pirate ship, had been stolen from the Flying Flies before I had entered Dragon Father’s dream, before they freed me from my enslavers, before Dragon Little was two years old.

Now, after the assault from the Flying Flies, Dragon Father planned to use my presence to deter the Lord of the Flies from ever taking back the ship.

Dragon Father requested an audience before the Lord of the Flies, and was granted it.

We were led into the Lord’s palace, where Dragon Father explained how I defeated the Flying Flies’ swarm, and how their entire city will be burned in fire if they continue to attack us.

“You have ssssseen nothing of our force, Shelley the Pirate,” the Lord of the Flies hissed. “We can defeat even dragonsssssss. Prepare yoursssssselvesssss for battle!”

“Hold it, hold it!” Five and a half year old Dragon Little raised her hand. She was armed as usual with a laser pistol on one side of her belt and a sword on the other. “Before we start the battle, I have one question.”

“Yessssss?” the Lord of the Flies whispered menacingly.

“You guys have jokes, right?”

“Of coursssssssse…”

“Okay. Try this. Knock knock.”

“Who’s there?” the Lord of the Flies inquired slowly.

“You.”

Dragon Father covered his face with his hand, as the Lord of the Flies asked: “You who?”

“Yoo hoo? Why are you calling me? I’m right here!”

Dragon Little laughed. The Lord of the Flies looked at her, expecting more. Dragon Father sighed. I laughed on the inside at the fact that my Dragon Little never gave up.

“That wassss not funny!” hissed the Lord.

“You Flying Flies have NO sense of humor!” Dragon Little shouted at him and pulled out her sword. “Let’s fiiiiight!”

The fight began. There is so much more to tell about our adventure together. I will tell you more tomorrow.
