‘The Squashbuckler Diaries’ are the daily tales of Joy Shelley’s Life in the Dream. The ‘Lost in Dreams’ books will tell the story of what happens to her at ages 6, 9, 12, 15, and so on. The diaries tell us what happens before, after, and between the books.

#17: Pizza and Carrot Juice

“What would you like for breakfast today, milady?” Dragon Father bowed to the just-awakened Dragon Little.

“The same thing as always, midaddy,” she mimicked his voice and bowed back.

Their routine in the mornings was usually the same. Dragon Father appears on the deck, wakes up Dragon Little, she brushes her teeth, and he summons breakfast for her.

The breakfast ist always the same.

“Here we go!” A big pizza appeared in his hands. He put it on the breakfast table, which also appeared just in front of him. “A big pizza, which has all the ingredients a growing body needs.”

Dragon Little sat at the table on the chair that appeared with it.

“And to make sure you have all the vitamins you need,” Dragon Father put out an empty hand. “Here is your freshly-squeezed carrot juice, milady!”

“Thank you, midaddy!”

And Dragon Little proceeded to eat her vitamin-filled breakfast.
