#148: Playing with the Sword, Part 4: Super Daughter?

Dragon Little was super excited: “Dad, you can do anything! You can get shot! You can get cut! The villains can’t do anything to you! We can defeat all of them without a problem!”

“No, no, no no no no!” Dragon Father was clearly regretting what he had just said, but Dragon Little was running with her thoughts. There was no stopping her once she had seen her father’s eye recover completely after it had been cut by the sword.

“They can shoot at me!”

“No!”

“They can hit me! I’ll laugh in their faces and keep going!”

“No!”

And then Dragon Father did something that I have never seen him do before or since. She was sitting up on her small bed in her cabin in Bonny’s Revenge, and he was sitting at its edge.

He shouted, “You can be hurt, Joy! You want to see?” He raised his hand, caught the side of her shoulder, and squeezed really hard.

Dragon Little’s face changed to both pain but mostly a feeling of surprise and shock.

She began to cry. Her eyes looked up at her father with betrayal. Her father’s face was already filled with horror as well at what he had done.

Dragon Little pushed back the tears and would not allow herself to cry.

“Oh, Joy, Joy, I’m sorry. Oh, my god, I shouldn’t have done that.”

Her face was clearly fighting back the urge to cry with every breath.

She jumped out of her bed, walked out, then down the stairs to the Infinite Prison.

Dragon Father stood up slowly and came out to the deck. He grabbed  his head in his hands and sighed heavily.

He did not follow her to the Infinite Prison. He looked around, seeming lost, no doubt thinking how he could make it right.

There ist still an end to the day’s events, for they did not end here. I will tell you of that tomorrow.
