#135: The Car, Part 4: One Million Dollars

Dragon Father landed the car - the car that Dragon Little had stolen only moments ago - back on the dealership lot. The new car was now battered, and its roof was torn.

Dragon Little, standing on her seat, her body leaning over the roof, waved to the dealer.

The dealer looked at the car with his mouth hanging open.

Dragon Father exited the car and came over to the dealer. “Ah…” he said awkwardly. “Sorry?”

“Are you serious? Did you just drive one of my cars without permission and destroy it?”

“Ah… It’s an honest mistake. Anyone could have…” his voice trailed off, as he probably realized that only Dragon Little could have done that.

“You, sir, just bought the car!”

“What!”

“You heard me. That’s one million dollars! Come on!”

“I… don’t… have…”

“Are you telling me, sir, that not only do you not have a car, which is something every family needs, but you are now one million dollars in debt?”

My ears perked up at this, listening and observing from my hiding place. I have seen this before. Dreamers sometimes dream something with an agenda. They want to be told something, or they want to experience something, and everything they create in their dream serves that purpose.

The dealer used the phrase ‘a car, which every family should have’, which Dragon Father just used a few times before. It ist a phrase he never uses, and now it ist repeated all the time Something has happened in his waking life that brought about this strange and unusual dream for him. Dragon Little derailed it a bit, but now the dream was back under Dragon Father’s control.

“Yes…” he said softly, ashamed.

“And are you telling me, sir, that you also have no wife, no girlfriend, no family, no kids…”

Dragon Father gestured back at the car. “I have a kid…”

“All right. You do have that. But nothing else. There is nothing else in your life, right, sir? No prospect? No hope?”

Dragon Father sighed.

“Well, then, you can be sure, sir, that you will pay us the one million dollars you owe us. And we will come to collect. Very soon.”

Dragon Father looked down at the ground. When he looked up again, the dealership and all the cars had vanished, and he was standing in the desert next to the battered down flying car he owned now.

He sighed again and a tear welled up in his eye.

Tomorrow I will tell you what he did next.
